3 things to look for in a commercial rental

When you’re looking for a commercial rental for your business, you might be focused on things like the location and the lease terms. While those points are critical, there are a few other points that you need to think about so you can ensure the property is going to meet your company’s needs.

These three points might not apply to all businesses, but they can be make-it-or-break-it aspects of a rental.

Parking for customers

Your customers need to be able to get to your business easily. Having adequate and safe parking is likely one of the ways you can do this. If your business is one that’s in a bigger city or that’s in an area that’s pedestrian-friendly or with public transit options, making sure the company is accessible for those may be important.

Hours of accessibility

If the space you’re considering is in a secure location, such as a mall or a commercial building, you need to verify that it will be accessible during the hours you need to operate. You should also make sure you understand the security procedures necessary if you need to access the space outside of normal hours.

Ability to customize the space

Being able to customize the space you’re renting might be important for your brand. You should find out exactly what’s allowed and forbidden so you can determine if it’s a good space for your company.

Once you find a location you feel is suitable for your company, you’ll need to negotiate the lease. Having someone who’s familiar with these leases is important to ensure the interests of the company are protected.
